From the Pastor’s Desk… It is with a great sense of appreciation that I present this Workbook to this local body, Serenity Christian Fellowship (SCF) and Serenity South @ West Augustine. This workbook truly reflects a snapshot of our corporate manual of policies of procedures that reflect a cross section of ministries that serve and nurture the spiritual, sociological and practical needs of the First Coast and St. Johns Communities and even inspire people nationwide. We cannot be all things to all people, but if we can, through effective ministries, provide a lifeline of peace, courage and wisdom to a few, then our labor will not be in vain. Although each ministry is diverse in nature, we are all bound by one common thread; our relentless pursuit of excellence to God’s glory. And this is our ultimate goal; to empower others spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and even naturally so they too can be an asset to the community. We are available to serve you in any capacity that’s needed Personal Counseling appointments can be made by calling (904) 412-1137

Pastor’s (Vision) Testimony – Jacksonville The Lord Jesus Christ came into my life on 26 Feb 1990 while stationed at RAF Lakenheath, England. The very night I received salvation, I became a new creature in Christ Jesus, no more smoking, drinking, clubbing or sinning. I immediately cut ties with the Mason Organization and devoted myself to learning all about God and his Word. Every Sunday morning I would go with Pastor Hawkins of the Worlington COGIC to set up the church for service and afterward Pastor and I would tarry for me to receive the Holy Ghost. Pastor Hawkins was praying about love and I felt the love of God enter my spirit and I began to speak in tongues as the Spirit gave utterance. While still in England, one night in a vision the Lord showed me standing in the pulpit as the Pastor of Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church. I thought that was great since the church I grew up in, as a boy in Picolata, Florida, was Mt Pleasant Baptist Church, (more to be revealed). Early in my ministry the Lord sent a vision to tell me to “only preach what I know and keep it simple”. Upon leaving England God said for me to read (Exodus 23: 20 Behold, I send an Angel before thee, to keep thee in the way, and to bring thee into the place which I have prepared. (21) Beware of him, and obey his voice, provoke him not; for he will not pardon your transgressions: for my name is in him. (22) But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries. (23) For mine Angel shall go before thee, and bring thee in unto the Amorites, and the Hittites, and the Perizzites, and the Canaanites, the Hivites, and the Jebusites: and I will cut them off).

2 November 94 my family and I left England and moved to Minot North, Dakota where the Lord continued to develop me as a man of God under the leadership of Pastor James W. Henderson and Mother Anna Bell Henderson. There I received training/preparation by Pastor Henderson’s TEACHING, PREACHING and HEALING by the gospel of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. (Acts 18: 24 And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus. (25) This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John. (26) And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly). One night in a vision the Lord showed me Gospel Tabernacle Church sitting high on top of a mountain. For miles around people were looking to the church for direction, guidance, and healing. The Spirit of God was flowing in and out of the church. Then all of a sudden I saw a bud growing from out of the roof of the church. I understood this as the birth of a church (Serenity) I was ordained to Pastor. (Is 61: 8 For I the LORD love judgment, I hate robbery for burnt offering; and I will direct their work in truth, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them. (9) And their seed shall be known among the Gentiles and their offspring among the people: all that see them shall acknowledge them, that they are the seed which the LORD hath blessed. (10) I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels. (11) For as the earth bringeth forth her bud, and as the garden causeth the things that are sown in it to spring forth; so the Lord GOD will cause righteousness and praise to spring forth before all the nations).

Once retired, (September 1999) from the USAF God sent Minister Britton and myself to Jacksonville, Florida to minister to our family/families, the military community and those people who suffer from all types of addiction. We attended Dayspring Missionary Baptist Church for an extended period of time. Once released God directed us to Faith Temple Holiness Church under Bishop Early Brown. God furthered his purpose for our ministry by giving me the name and pillows of our church.

The name Serenity Christian Fellowship stems for the foundation are PEACE with God (Psalm 122: (6) Pray for the peace of Jerusalem: they shall prosper that love thee. (7) Peace be within thy walls, and prosperity within thy palaces. (8) For my brethren and companions’ sakes, I will now say, Peace be within thee. (9) Because of the house of the LORD our God I will seek thy good), COURAGE from God, (Joshua 1: 6) Be strong and of good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I swore unto their fathers to give them. (7) Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest. (8) This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success. (9) Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest and WISDOM of God, (Proverb 3: 5 Trust in the 3 LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. 6 In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths).

On 27 April 2001 the first meeting of Serenity was held on a Friday Night for prayer service in the living room of our home at 3249 Abbeyfield Lane. A total of 21 people were present. Then God open the heart of Dr. Ruth Britton (Mother) to lease the church a space located in her business on University Blvd where we held services for 4 months. A space that held 20-25 people and we had church! Then in Sept 2001 God again showed me in a vision, a storefront located at 819 Townsend Blvd. I was driving home from work and God directed me where to go and who to see to get this space. On 17 Sept 2001 we got the key, worked all week painting cleaning and (First Lady Britton spent her birthday (week) 9/18/2001 working in the church) and we had our first service there on 21 Sept 2001. God showed his grace to us by opening the hearts of church’s, family and friends and others by acts of love toward Serenity. God always remind me that we must be faithful over the small things. Since our humble beginning God has guided us to our current church location. We purchased this church and the Education Building from Community Baptist Church of the Southside in 2007. The original name of the church was Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church. The church God show me in the first vision back in England that I misunderstood as my home church. In 2009 we purchased the home next to the Education Building, which is the beginning of Serenity Village, used for shelter. We are praying for the Lord to bless us to purchase the other two homes that will be an extension of Serenity Village. In October 2016, Serenity became affiliated with the Kingdom Minded Association of Churches under the leadership of Dr. Walter M. Brown, Jr.

In April 2017, we launched a mobile ministry – Serenity South @ West Augustine. It is in my heart for you to see and understand how the Lord has guided my foot steps from the beginning until this present time for the bible reads: (Habakkuk 2: 2 And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon tables, that he may run that readeth it. (3) For the vision is yet for an appointed time, but at the end it shall speak, and not lie: though it tarry, wait for it; because it will surely come, it will not tarry. (4) Behold, his soul which is lifted up is not upright in him: but the just shall live by his faith. To God be the glory. We shall feed the hungry, cloth the naked and house the homeless. Both naturally and spiritually. Therefore, I have obeyed God and will to continue to seek Him while he may be found. Join with me in the vision and let’s BE ABOUT OUR FATHER’S BUSINESS! Pastor’s Vision – Serenity South United We Stand! We believe Jesus’ Ministry was a mobile ministry that touched many aspects of communities. Jesus reached people by casting and mending, teaching, preaching, and healing, while being moved by compassion. He drew people with love and kindness. We should do the same. Let’s follow His example! Compassion of Christ … Matthew 9:35, Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, proclaiming the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. [36] When he saw the crowds, he 4 had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. [37] Then he said to his disciples, “The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. [38] Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
